factorio power switch accumulator
They added a power switch, so you can isolate your steam power behind the switch and use your accumulator charge level to determine when to put the steam power onto the main grid. You have a problem with the engines activating in short bursts, and wish to prevent that. On a very heavy load (e.g. I pretty much use this system every time now:Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts. Can anyone help? I haven't really dived into circuits in Factorio but this is how I would represent the situation assuming the circuits can support it. I am trying to toggle an power switch to let power thru to the system and close when the accumulator is full enough. Accumulators send the current charge level, so you can finally easily turn off steam engines at night or activate backup power based on accumulator charge levels. I had the idea of using a power switch and combinators, reading the level in an accumulator, but I'm having difficulty figuring out exactly how to connect it. There's actually a simpler way to do it. Once activated, the switch stays ON until the accumulators are above 50% Part 3 is the difficulty -- otherwise it would be simple matter of connecting a single wire between an accumulator and the power switch.
The math has been worked, folded and spindled in the Factorio forums many times. I connected a power switch to it, and I can't figure out how to turn the power switch ON when it has wires connected. 3. I have enough solar now that I can shut off my steam engines, but I'm keeping them as a backup mainly in case biters attack and the lasers need more power. Accumulators work just like any other power source or power consumer - they have just have to be in the area covered by power poles to work. If you use the layout shown in Katherine's guide (and other places), this utilises 180 solar panels and 151 accumulators to provide approximately 10MW per 'block' day and night. They send a signal of your choosing, by default 'A'. The last hours I try to solve it but.... after that I watched a lot of vids on youtube. I don't have a game running at the moment, so I can't show you a screenshot, but here's a video showing how and explaining how it works. After that, the Steam Engines again turn off. The accumulators use the extra charge in a system all you need to do is treat it like an inserters and put a power line that connects the 2 Did you know you can use Accumulators in Factorio to transfer power, divide your power network and even prioritize parts of your network? This signal represents the percentage of power left in the accumulator. Accumulators and Transport belts Probably one of the more interesting entities that can now be connected to the circuit network are Accumulators and Transport belts. © Valve Corporation. I dont fully understand the circuit system, sadly, so I may be screwing things up. After that it was a matter of figuring out how to cut in and cut out the power switch at the right time. A steam engine can produce 900kW of energy from the stored steam (3 times faster discharge rate), and a turbine can produce 5800kW (6.4 times faster discharge rate). The accumulator outputs a A 1-100 signal depending on it's strength, plus the arithmetic combinator lets the accumulator fall to 10% (A 60) before it cuts in the power, then the accumulator has to rise all the way to 60% before it cuts back out. © Valve Corporation. Factorio > General Discussions > Topic Details. When the Accumulator charge gets below 10 percent, Steam Engines will turn on and remain on until the Accumulators charge up to 35%. I have a setup that does exactly this, here's how it works. You can do it with combinators without too much trouble. An additional thought.
You need two combinators, one decider and one arithmeticNote: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts. It's better than toggling the offshore pumps as the hot water remains in the boilers, ready to be used immediately when needed. I've placed the accumulator next to my solar panels, but it just flashes red. Doing this causes the engines to turn off and on really fast, maintaining 30% but not recharging to 50% like I want it to. I have argued about this In a previous Disscusion of mine since a accumulator holds 300Kw and charges at the same rate you will need about 5 solar panals per one accumulator because 5 times 60Kw (this is the solar prod rate on a mid day) so bout 5 solar per 1 accum. What's the ratio between accumulators and solar panels? laser turret firing), a small accumulator array may not discharge fast enough, causing power disruptions. I am trying to get an backup power to be toggled when the main power is not enough.
Like, if I have 100 panels, how many accumulators are needed to not run out of power during the night? I dont fully understand the circuit system, sadly, so I may be screwing things up.
I tried making wires to connect it to the electric poles, but it still flashes red. Here's how I want it to work: All trademarks are property of their respective owners in the US and other countries. I am using an accumulator to check the power level and want it to turn on at 25 and stop at 80.
like that myself but my engineering skills are too rusty to come to the conclusion that multiple signals routed to the same input actually get calculated on their own.
I was looking for sth. I'm lost. All rights reserved. Jan. Aug 19, 2016 @ 7:38am Accumulator / Steam question /power switch Hi I have a big proplem. Accumulator: Output: [A] Decider: [A] < 10, Output = 1 Arithmetic: Input: * -1 Output A Power Switch: = 1 Good solution, ManaUser!
I tried making wires to connect it to the electric poles, but it still flashes red. I've placed the accumulator next to my solar panels, but it just flashes red. I did this differently (easier, thanks to a helpful forum post some weeks ago), but I have accumulators spread all over my factory (so there's always one nearby).
The correct ratio is 0.84, so 100 panels + 84 accumulators will keep 24-hour supply of the appropriate power. They do not need to be connected by wires. If you are thinking of using a power switch for something (eg: start cracking when a tank is 80% full, turning on backup power if accumulators run low), you may find yourself needing some hysteresis to prevent rapid oscillation.
